From Where I Stand: The Black Experience in Country Music – 4 CD box set

Produced by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum

From Where I Stand: The Black Experience in Country Music chronicles nearly one-hundred years of country music made by Black artists—from the stringbands of the 1920s and ’30s and the country songs covered by rhythm & blues stars, to the breakthrough of Charley Pride and his contemporaries, and the wide-ranging artists who have continued to blaze a trail into the twenty-first century.

The collection originally appeared as a three-disc box set in 1998 and was immediately greeted with both a warm reception and critical acclaim. This expanded and updated edition adds two new essays and a fourth disc of music featuring twenty-first century artists, bringing the story up to the present.
